3.3 -> 3.5 Pumpkin Swap Question
I currently have a 3.3 open diff on my car and wanted to switch pumpkins to a 3.5 open diff. I was able to source a pretty cheap one but it doesn't come with axle stubs.
I can't use the stub axles from my car, can I? Both pumpkins are from the same year (2003). Aside from the pumpkin do I need to buy anything extra to just do the swap?

I went from a 3.3 to a 3.5 in my Z and did not have to do anything more than unbolt mine and bolt the 3.5 in its place. However, I do have the VSLD and so did the guy I swapped with.
I'm 95% sure you can use your existing axle stubs. I think the ones from a base won't work with the VLSD pumpkin because of the differential...not the gear.
Man, I just installed my used VLSD yesterday and have my 3.5 open with axle stubs laying around...damn!

Sorry, I should have stated I have a 03 G35 Sedan 5AT (non-sport). I can't recall what other G models ran open diff stock though. The reason I went with another open diff was because I was planning to get the Quaife after a couple of other mods.
Thanks for the replies! I'm just gonna go ahead and pull the trigger.

Does changing the rear end gears like this affect the cruise control?
I know that sounds crazy, but someone told me that the G and Z compare the wheel speed with transmission speed and if the difference is greater than 7%, it stops Cruise Control.
Have any of you that changed your rear end gears tried your cruise control?

Can't you just gut the thing?
I have a 05' 350z base...
I changed the ring/pin and dropped in the Quaife...
And why does everyone go higher?????? If you're running 400+ HP wouldn't you want to stay in gear longer to USE the power and not shift every .244 seconds?
