i dont know how good this one really is but i have heard of people buying cheaper grounding kits and not having the right lengths, and missing certain pieces. I would pay the extra money and go with a stillen or something along those lines.

Sun Automobile makes grounding kits and also has the Cyberspeed version that is vehicle specific to our Z's. They make the NISMO kit for our cars and are OEM suppliers for Toyota etc in Japan, which shows you their level of quality with ISO-14001 certification.

There's plenty of install instructions floating around on the net that give you the exact lengths you need and where to connect them.

Just get some 4 gauge wire and some wire connectors and make your own for 20$. Or buy some snakeoil. Grounding kits make me laugh.

what exactly would a grounding kit accomplish that would put ANY more power to the wheels?

Probably nothing, I run one and have been in the habit of "over" grounding for yrs, whether it be a house, a welder or a custom build on a car because grounding is so important to the system as a whole. Plus, it's a good backup if the OEM grounds start to fail, which they tend to do. Most cars are grounded to the minimum,---one corroded/loose ground and ur dead in ur tracks til a long hard search finds it.

I have seen test that show a 5 hp loss. Look at the current issue of nissan sport ( the mag that replaced sport z). They did dynos and showed a loss of power on the Z.

Magazines saw a 1 HP loss or gain... like they said, it's within dyno error. I put a kit on my car. No difference really. Lots of people say it helps throttle response. I can't tell. I'm hoping to dyno my car Saturday but I've got a few other mods than just grounding wires.

I have some snake oil you can buy that will give you a 2-5hp gain and try to prove it does not work. This is my point companies use errors to miss lead the public. If you want to upgrade the grounds on your car just sand the paint off under the factory ground points and make sure they are all tight. You can also put a multi meter on them while the engine is running and check the ohms. If you need the peace of mind of putting huge wires on then go ahead. I have dynoed my car 6 times and I can very each run by 5hp just by small differences. Like shut the hood and turn off the fan and 5hp gone due to heat soak then open the hood turn on the fan (the one they put in front of the car while on the dyno) and wow 5hp gain.

In the end it is your call this is just my .2 cents and enjoys your grounding kit.

I wouldn't dyno without a fan in front of the car. That's pretty much auto abuse.

I REPEAT --------There are NO HP gains. But I have over 30 yrs seen too many systems fried ( Like EVERY wire melted together under the dash ) because of factory grounds, and OEM grounds suk, the wire is to lite a gauge and the connecting points are prone to loosen and corrode ( 10 times more so after they heat up a few times due to their indaquite sizing and connections ) Its a vicious circle -----Grounds get hot,are more prone to corode and loosen, which in turn causes them to get hotter --etc etc

Point is ---WTF ----cover ur ***, and do it for ur car. Too much thats important is ignored because it doesnt make HP----HP is useless if ur elec system is a molten mess.

Dont be Confused---Take a couple deep breaths. They will survive just fine. If he wants to use a grounding kit, no harm done. If he doesnt and a 1 in a 5000 fluke happens, then he will be thankful.
Its preventative maintenence for an unlikely occurance---Its the poorly installed after market components like big amps that hurt u and its great to tie into ur kit for grounding
