Default I need some advice on my idle

I've searched but haven't come up with a precise answer on what is too low of an RPM. PROBLEM: I just had my oil change done at Nissan and ever since then my idle has been lower. Before the oil change, it was usually around 900-1000 and now its like this (see pic below). I was just wondering if there is something wrong and if I should bring it back to Nissan. I first happened about 3 nights ago. When it first happened, my car almost shut off because it dropped so low. Now its just stays this way after warming up. The car does seem kinda shaky at this RPM like it is going to shut off but it hasn't quite gotten there yet. What do you guys think?

mine does the same thing too. At first I thought something was wrong but I guess it's just the way the car is?

mine always idled at 650 with the stock engine, but we had to raise it to 1000 to prevent stalling after the tomeis

I've changed to synthetic and smoothed out my idle a bit. there was a slight bumpiness of the needle and now it's steady. not sure about your issue, though.. that occurs when you have an exhaust leak or a misfire, but that'll throw a cel..

since your idle lowered after the dealer changed your oil, it would be a good idea to see if they put the correct amount in. Also 900-1000 rpms you were experiencing is too high unless it was during warm-up

What ugly noise?

When it's warmed up, mine idles around 700.

Does anybodies engine make like a boom type sound when they first fire it up when the engine has sit overnight and it's cold?

I never noticed this boom sound before the shortblock got switched out but now I notice this noise. Just don't know if it could be something or if now I notice every little thing, than I did before and I'm just being paranoid.

i wouldn't worry about it my idle is right around 700 rpms amd i have noticed the needle likes to fluctuate a little (we're talking 100 rpms up or down)

thanks for all the help. I guess I was just worried because the car is new and I never noticed that happened before.

It sounds like prior to your oil change your idle had been bumped up with an ODBII tool, or may your throttle position sensor wasn't calibrated. I think they probably just gave you a "corrective" action either doing the tps cal or resetting idle to default. FWIW, I added about 75 rpm to the default with an ODBII tool and my idle is completely smooth now, although it is above 700 rpms now. That's the whole deal with ODBII compliance, idle is set to as low as possible to reduce emissions, unfortunately this doesn't mean the best idle quality for us.

Why not get a reflash and raise your idle to like 1200... cooler idle sound and less chance of stalling

And almost double the idle fuel consumption!
