There is what looks like an inline fuel filter under the hose that connects at the lower plenum and goes into the battery box. The thing in question is connected inline to a 1/4" hose, that partially runs parrlel along the Plenium on the passenger side, then angles downward and dissapers under the lower firewall. It is black plastic and looks something like this.

I took it off and it smells of gas but the owners manual has no mention of a fuel filter. Also there was no fluid inside of it but it did seem to have the smell of gas

In the pic you can see a green ****. My car has this green **** too but on mine the **** is located lower down on the hose and the filter I have is mounted where the **** is located in the pic.

I wonder if only certain year Z's have this fuel line looking filter or whatever it is because I have not seen them on all Z's. Is it a rev up thing?

Hmmm maybe this is why mine has one and some don't have or look like mine. Must be the EVAP filter.

Why are you messing with it? Leave it alone! You're fuel filter is inside the fuel tank assembly.

You're right, it's the fuel damper. My question is: why the hell would this guy be taking it off and smelling it, lol.

The green **** is the air bleed for the cooling system.

Are you the original owner of the car? If not, maybe the previous owner put something in the line.
