KJR Crank Pulley owners be careful
I took my car in for service due to leaking oil in the engine bay from unknown source, and turned out to be that it was caused by KJR Pulley.
The aluminum on the pulley is so soft that it made a brand new groove
and started to eat away the seal.
The pulley was torqued to its proper settings when it was installed 6 months ago.
I will post pics after I get back from work.

The issue is that the KJR pulley is having a groove worn in it by the rubber oil seal causing a leak. There is no permanent fix for the pulley other than to periodically replace the oil seal. At some point the groove will get so deep that this will no longer stop the leak. I would use the UR pulley since it has a steel sleeve to protect the pulley from the seal. According to them, this was done to prevent this exact issue. IIRC several people tried to contact KJR but, I don't recall anything "official" from them. My guess is they are not going to fix it.

I'll just wait until my KJR starts giving me problems
most of the stuff on my car is all voodoo bad stuff anyway:
-FI without a built engine will "blow up"
-5mm wheel spacers will "break my upgraded wheel bolts and the wheels will come off"
-solid motor mounts that will "bust my engine"
-lowering my car will make me "scrape everything and bust a hole in my oil pan"
-booster pump will "short out my fuel pump"
-water injection will fail and "blow up my engine"
-my hawk HP+ brake pads "won't stop my car well on the street and I'll crash" (ha! lol, they stop WAY better, just squeek)
-my Pirelli corsa tires will "hydroplane me into a ditch"
-disabling VDC permanently will "make me lose control and kill myself"
-oil cooler will "hurt the engine because the oil will be too cold" (I have an oil temp gauge to know when it's at a decent temp for WOT)
-vented hood that'll "cause my engine to stop working if it rains"
-solid diff mounts that'll "break my diff"
-cold air intake that'll "gulp down water" if I decide I want to prove my car really is a submarine afterall
-SSV that "doesn't work" and will "make any additional power I add pointless"
-1300 rpm idle that "is bad...because it just is" ...why? because of gas mileage or something?
etc
by that logic, my car should have self imploded under the laws of physics a long time ago
but I know sh*t happens, but I figure if I died because I used the wrong part on my car, I'll at least know to never buy that part again

so all base owners are doomed to crash thier cars since we don't have VDC
but in regards to the KJR... is it possible it is incorrectly torquing it down that is causing the problems?

Thats a good one! I have the kjr pulley myself, i've had it for a few thousand miles without giving me any problems. Knock on wood that it doesn't happen to me.

By the way, don't trust the Unorthodox pulley either. I had one and it went bad in a very serious way.
The key-way on the pulley that indexes to the crank shaft started to expand. Normally, it is about 3/8 inch. Mine expanded to well over 1 inch. So, it no longer fit the key-way on the crank. This caused a very bad vibration, all sorts of clutch noise, and you could visibly see it spin in out of balance. Obviously, I through it in the trash and have not bought a new one. And yes, it only lasted a year and yes, I installed it right.
Now that I have said that, I am not saying you should not get one. My recommendation at that time is still what I say today. If you get one, consider it a maintenance part. You will have to remove it and check it twice per year. This is just for safety and is common sense.

the KJR? it's been on my car since last april or so, but I've only put like 2500 or so miles on it since then
I had the UR pulley before that for about a year and a half when I was NA
My thinking was I'd probably blow up the engine before I messed up my crankshaft or whatever with the pulley, but if it's not made as well as the UR one, who knows. I bought the fluidampr pulley at one point but decided to leave the KJR on since it was working fine so far
I think if I went with a built engine, I'd use a fluidampr pulley. I figure the stock engine isn't worth tons of money these days with used stock engines widely available from junkyards selling for $2000 etc

Hey Sentry I'm kind of stuck with this CJ fuel system and me not being able to rev past 6000 safely. Do you have anything in the works for this situation? Summers coming and I have probably 10 races I wan to make vids for. I can't compete without my topend.
