Default Oil Change - oil well over full?

my exhausts are off and I did an oil change today. I don't want to start the car to have the oil settle in and it's reading at well over full (I hate the damn dipstick, and I checked it about 10 times). I'm getting a bad reading right?

I'd think you'd need to let it run a bit to get oil into the filter and which will lower the oil in the pan.

VQ35DE is recommanded with 5 qts, the max is 5.1 qts... I think you did put too much oil in there.

ah man, I've always thought it was 5~5.5? are you guys sure about 5 quarts? I don't have an oil pan spacer (I desperately need one, though) and I have an oil catch can.. oil catch can drains with the engine oil, right?.. wonder if it works as an extra oil reservoir...

the manual states its 5 quarts with a filter change. if you put to much oil you are asking for a leak to be forced out somewhere causing problems you dont want

Guys, don't forget he's running the APS oil pan which holds an extra quart. 5.5 sounds about right for the APS kit.

Just start it up and run it for a few seconds, even with the exhaust off. It won't hurt anything, just sound super cool . Then give it about 15-20 and check it again. It should just come up to the LOW mark on your stick.

Oil catch cans do not drain with the engine oil.
