Default "Mototune" break-in... is it too late?

I just got my Z a few days ago, it had about 20 miles on the odometer when I picked it up from the dealer. Now it has around 200. Is it too late to start following the mototune break-in guide? I was told that this way is better than the owner's manual guide.

If it's not too late, basically I just accelerate and bring the RPMs up as much as possible and let the engine deccelerate itself while taking it easy on the clutch, brakes, transmission still, is that right?

Exclamation

Listen to the company THAT MADE THE VEHICLE.

When something goes wrong, guess who'll ask the warranty questions.

+1

I never get it when folks want to do other than what manual says on break-in.

None of the folks with other options are going to be around to foot the bill if they are wrong.

I would not do that "Mototune" break in method. Just follow your manual....

i can't believe the negative responses to this break in method... it's highly controversial, many say it is ideal for maximum power potential later down the road.

Your tightly clearanced OEM engine breaks in very very quickly. It's probably too late now. For what it's worth, there isn't much "breaking in" required on an OEM engine. Just use traditional motor oil through your first oil change, and you should be good.

Let us know how you like the new engine.

Drive it normal. The break in instructions are BS. Just don't gun it and thats not because itll break something, you want the engine to go through several thermal cycles before you really stress it, plus you want to change the oil.

Just do what I did. Baby it for the first 500 miles only to misshift and go from 6th to 2nd instead of 4th, and bury the RPMs.

That'll do it!
