N/A mods.
Hey guys. Just wanted to find out what kind of mods are available for someone who is trying to get as much power n/a as possible. I know there's the normal stuff like: intake, exhaust, throttle body, cams, but what about the more exotic parts? I know there are stroker kits, but what about individual throttle bodies? What would be the power range if all the parts that are available were used? Why am I hearing that VQ's are close to their power limits from the factory n/a, if they aren't even pushing as much hp/liter as say an M3 motor? Thanks.

Fact is that going for all out N/A power isn't your best bang for buck. I would recommend looking into a TN ST or Vortech if you are on a budget but want to make some good power. A lot of people on here are seeing 400whp with supporting mods and a good tune with both kits. TS does make ITBs but the are d*mn expensive.

Boost is nice, but I'm addicted to the n/a throttle response and the challenge of getting max power from it.

forget stroker kits. forget ITB's, pretty much NO ONE has done this, and unless you're building a pure track car, forget cams and valvetrain.

I have this setup and it is night and day difference from stock imo. For the occasional spirited driving it deff does the trick. I had a Vortech SC'd 2000 maxima before this @ 12 psi and to me the Z w/ these mods feels just as quick and i know for sure can pull a faster 1/4 mile time.

Nismo Cat Back
This has gotten me to 270 lbft of Torque @ 280 HP, all at the wheels SAE Corrected. Total Cost for all. Under $1700.00.
I still want to do High Flow Cats and a UR Pulley an Technosquare inc ECU re-flash. These last three should put me close to 300 ATW's. I hope

3 letters, APS....youll end up spending as much money on N/A mods and end up stuck in the end without forced induction. I got the basics; intake, spacer, and exhaust comign but after that Im going forced induction...you can do a ecu reflash as well...just my .02

my advice on going NA would be to shop for specials or good used parts. Usually the horsepower difference between a $1200-2400 does not justify the cost, so pick up a used HKS or NISMO for $650-1000, a JWT popcharger used for $80 or new for $125, the Motodyne spacer for sure and MREV if you have the funds. Headers are not worth the headache or money for the gains, but if high flow cats or test pipes are feasible where you live, go for it.
