The selling of my parts is not going well at all......sell it ahead of time...WAYYYYYYY ahead of time.....I feel like I am getting raped sans jelly with some of the offers I have gotten

At least this is what I understood from talking to the Hinson people. Noah, if I misunderstood something, then please correct me.
Of course if you wish to hack up your 06 GTO and put a VQ into it...

drivetrain with 75K miles, etc, it will be way more then 9K.

This is for an FD conversion from their web site.
"Our base building cost is $8,656.72 plus the cost of the engine and transmission. The price includes the following parts. "
I assume the Z will be in the same range.

So unless you go with an exhausted engine, you're looking at a pretty penny. So as was being debated in the other thread, a built motor+TT and this swap will likely be in the same neighborhood. Not trying to start anything, so don't jump on me about this, nor am I trying to start N/A V8 vs. V6 TT.
Level I Shortblock from Forged Performance: $3845(600-650whp)
APS Extreme from Forged Performance: $6,748
UTEC from Forged Performance: $898
AAM TP: $699
APS 3" TD Exhaust: $1,469
Didn't bother to do clutch/flywheel but that's about a grand and install would be cheap when the built motor goes in.
So after tuning/installs you're looking at about $16,500. My estimation and I def. could be wrong.
The following are from CrateEngineDepot.com
LS1 w/o wiring or ECM(350BHP): $4,875
LS2 Note: Pulley, belt, powersteering pump, air conditioning pump, starter, alternator and engine cover are not included with this engine.: $5,649
LS 364/440BHP: $4,977
LS6 405BHP: $6,249
LS7 505BHP: $12,999
Any of those + the transmission, the kit from Hinson, and the install/parts time required to do the install if you choose to go the DIY route. In the end you still have an inferior set-up to the built bock VQ.
BTW this doesn't go for Noah's LSX block which will be a complete beast, and I didn't price out the LSX because I was trying to keep it within a similar range besides the LS7, but I figured people would ask about how much that cost.
Both set-ups can be done cheaper, but I figured that most people would not want to cheap/cut-corners on a built block set-up, or with an LS_ swap.

Then there is the service-ability after the swap question. Unless you have the experience to roll-up your sleeves and get in there yourself, how/where would you get you 740Z serviced?
To me it is a V8-thing. The hair on your arms either stands on ends when you hear a sweet V8 rumble down the street that causes you to instinctively turn your head to catch a glimpse or it doesn't (physical thing).
Right now the Law of Supply and Demand is at play big-time. Demand (interest) is high and supply (conversion kits from various vendors) is low (or non-exsistent).

My #1 reason for this route is where I live. Shops where I live know nothing about imports and I can no longer work on my own cars. So I see the opportunity to own what I think is one of the most beautiful cars on the road today and being able to have a motor put in it that can make power easily, handle that power, and be able to be worked on by shops near me...or even my friends.

out of sheer curiosity I want to take my Z to a chevy dealer for an oil change just so they go WTF!!!!
You guys are also missing that the $9K will include an exhaust, cooling system, tuning etc.
So it basically boils down to preference.....500N/A or 500 FI, the power delivery is completely different between the two....

What I love about this site is that there is so much discussion and speculations on thing that are not even out yet, when they do finally come out, there is no way they can compete with what the people have already dreamed up.
Let's wait till Hinson finishes the conversion, posts ACTUAL pricing, and then we'll see.
This reminds me of the VQ-HR upgrades discussion half a year before the damn thing was out.

When this is done can you please ask hinson to get on the forums and give us a basic break down of the parts and costs?

I will also call him and get some general information for you guys when it becomes available during my build. I am sure he will be updating his website with teh 350Z stuff as soon as he feels he can pinpoint exact pricing.

btw, i never expected this to cost 9k installed including the drivetrain, so i was expecting a 15ish k price tag and thats fine by me, this swap isn't for everyone and niether is the price
