Default Those of you with tranny replacements.

For all of you that have had trannies replaced under warrenty did you have the dealer hassle you and try to say nothin was every said about them haveing bad trannies. Well i rember viewing a post one time that had a list of everyone that had trannies replaced and they suggested you bring that to the dealer to prove theres a problem, but i cant see to find that post again. Just wondering if any of you have seen it. And i was wondering if it was true or not that nissan actually sent out a Tech Service Bulletin about the trannies grinding? Wat to know if thats true i should be able to use that against them if they try to **** me over. Thanks

No, never had trouble.....and I'm about to get my #5. The Service Managers at the two different dealerships that I have visited have always acknowledged the problem.

Always the same...drive at highway speed press in the clutch, and move the shifter between 6 and 5. Grinds every time.

My #4 tranny (currently in car) was the worst. Shifting between gears was extremely notchy and required much more effort than seemed appropriate.

Every dealership is well aware by now of the issue. The post you are referring to is in the maintenance section. Id call Nissan North America, tell them the dealer isnt helping you and go somewhere else. Good luck. BTW I have had 2 replaced by Nissan and 1 on my dime I love these things I change them every other oil change it seems

Yeah kinda concerning me. Thinking maybe it was in a non reported wreck, and they just did a damn good job fixing the car. And maybe the frame might be tweaked a bit which is throwing the driveline off, and causing it to eat tranny's.

mines in the shop getting a new tranny! the service manager tried saying i altered the shifter and cut it (my shift **** sits extremly low--> looks like a short shifter is installed) after taking it off and explaining it to him that its stock, and that he has 2 prove that a mod is what caused the damage, he finally buckled.

Just to let you know how easy going they are about replacing trannies, heres what happened to me last week.

Went to a track event on friday for a NASA weekend event, could not get into 5th gear on Saturday, changed fluid at the track on Sunday. Could now use 5th, but it did so with a loud "crunch." I figured the synchro was gone, and drove it home skipping the gear. Took the car to the dealer on Monday with my numbers and race tires still on the car, told them it happened while on track. Then I also told them I just put a JWT clutch/flywheel on the car a month ago.

Got the car back yesterday with a brand new tranny with 0 questions asked. Tech told me the 5th gear synchro was destroyed and i told him it was a glorious death at 130 mph. He laughed!

I was feeling pretty lazy and wanted to see what they would do if I was totally honest. Guess it worked, this time.

They always said they couldn't recreate the problem, cause the manager would drive it incredibly slow. So I dogged the **** out of it till it was barely driveable and then had one of the shop guys drive it and they replaced it for me. If it's grinding even a little now, just trash it cause it will only get worse and you dont wanna run outta warranty and pay outta pocket to have it replaced. (I have 80k miles and I had my tranny replaced when I was close to 60k)
