2007 touring might need new tranny.
This news sucks.... I am currently working out a deal to trade my rattle box 06 for an 07 and now this. Frankly I am very dissapointed in Nissan and only if I had Porche money, you would never see my legs anywhere near a Nissan dealership.

I don't think i could be as nice as you, I mean come on you buy a brand new car then it has issues and they take it and park it for 2 and a half weeks.
and tell you parts ar on the way but that doesn't change the fact you have a car you can't drive. I would demand a new one if it were me.
Best of luck to ya mate!

I don't really want another one...if for no other reason than I don't want to have to go through another break-in period.

When they get the parts in, I'll take it in and let them swap it out.. in the meantime I'm good.
You're getting close, enjoy!

Brings back memories of my 2003 Z which had inumerable problems. I finally go to the point I couldnt put up with them... It feels like Nissan doesn't really roadtest some of the "upgrades" they put on these cars. At least test them in a way that the cars will really be driven. Beta test on the public...
But in the end I couldn't stay away from the Z
. I'm sure there will be a fix for the clutch issue. As it appears to be a new unit we may have to wait some time for aftermarket support. Does the G35 sedan (or the upcoming G37) use this same configuration?? Haven't checked their sites for any clutch issues.
Best of luck to the OP. IMO it will turn out OK.

So far the clutch seems to be the only 07 issue, as the rest of the car has improved over time. The clutch was updated to handle the power, and ended up doing the opposite.
I love my 07, and will deal with the issue until it is fixed. Even with it, and not being able to launch like I could, it still ran 13.3's easily, but I cannot hotlap. I have to let the clutch cool off between runs for at least 30-45 minutes, to avoid a possible problem.
On the street it doesn't show itself unless I have been sitting in traffic, and have to get into the power, like getting onto the freeway, especially in 3rd gear.

I agree, they need to know that you are serious and stalling is unacceptable!
How about you John (mansmind), any updates from you? Last week you mentioned that you were getting a new slave put in so the Nissan engineers could investigate your parts.
I'm still in the break in period and will most likely not be running my car hard until at least the summer, but I'm getting nervous about this situation and hope that a resolution will be available by the time it comes up.
Incidentally, if you all (who are experiencing problems of any serious kind) would file a complaint at the NHTSA's ODI site, it would help get the word out so that investigators will put pressure on Nissan for a fix.

I had the Borla TD on my last Z, and I will probably go the same route with this one.

FWIW, I just bought an 07 base model Z a couple weeks ago. I have a little over 1000 miles on it so far (I haven't babied it either) and I have not yet run into any issues.
Working were I do (dealership) allows me to see all the parts changes, availability, etc...
The clutch parts are all new for the 07 HR cars. There's a new part number on the clutch/pp combo, new master cylinder as well as a new slave cylinder design. I have yet to get any of these parts in, nor have I pulled my car apart to verify this 100%, but it looks like the slave cylinder, withdrawal lever, throwout bearing, etc.. are now integrated into one unit.
I checked and all of those parts are on backorder as well. So your local dealer is not lying. Though I'd ask them to see about upgrading the status to a VOR or CSC (customer care) to get the parts here as quickly as possible, if your car is down.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with this. I have not run into any of these issues on the new HR equipped 07 6-spd G35 Sedans yet and those have pretty much the exact same setup as the Z's.

I always preloaded my E36, but I also had so little power to work with that it was all I could do to get the car to move without bogging the motor.

Thanks for the info! Yeah it looks like I am on the right track. I am at CSC status and he has been trying to locate the parts for me. You actually made my day in a wierd way.
But the fact remians. I dont have my car here with me and it sucks. If they gacve me the rental AND let me garage my car, Ill wait forever. But It sucks not having it here. Im the type of guy that requested they not wash my car cause im scard of swirl marks and I dust and quick detail my car every other day. Its only a car but I have been waiting for my 07 since last september

A new car will be hassle since I have mods on my car. A buy back is a hassle because Ill have to shop for another car. When my 30 days is up, Im going to start requesting 100mile warentee and 1 months worth of car payment. If they give it to me i guess I will wait on. If not, Ill be either in another Z, another car, or drive my trusty GSR with cash in my hands for a while...
Update:
The service manager from the dealership called me this afternoon. He's expecting to have all parts the first week of May. He indicated he was also about to place a "stop-order" which basically means he'll get one of the first parts available, which means he could get them sooner.
I haven't had any issues with the car the last few days, spirited driving or not. He knows this but we'll still do the change.
So far, Nissan has stayed on top of this with me. I can't really complain.

I just called my dealership and they said that the ETA is tomorrow. This is good news but being the paranoid type, I hope they arent jsut putting in a new master slave and putting the old stuff back. This is because they told me the 20th along time ago but that was only for the slae and that they could not locate the rest of the stuff. Is it coincidence (sP) that everything jsut majically apears right when the slave comes in? They are a dealership and would not pull something like that will they?!

My suspicion is that there will be a recall in the future, and both of us will have to go through this again. It's too widespread to be spot cases, and I suspect they'll find a problem in design before it's all said and done. We'll see though, maybe just a bad batch of parts or something. Keep in touch on it.. and I'll do the same.
Mine was manufactured in January 07...I flog mine daily since I got it on 2/14/07....Currently has 1700 miles, NO ISSUES TO DATE...I have hit 160 mph a few times also !! (lol)
