Our first 2007 350Z VQ35HR Baseline Dyno

Jeremy from "frenzy" is a longtime customer of ours. As some of you know, his beautiful show-car 350Z was recently totalled in a collision. Fortunately, he took delivery of his Black 2007 Roadster, and his first stop...literally...was Forged Performance! 
Of course, what does any self-respecting 350Z enthusiast do with his factory fresh car??? He puts it on the dyno!
The car arrived at our shop with just 51 miles on the ticker, and after the dyno break-in and power testing, he left with 73 miles on the odometer.
As noted previously, the Dyno Dynamics dyno is load based, and reads about 8-13% lower than a typical DynoJet. Most bone stock 03-06 VQ35's measure about 220-225whp on our dyno. It is called the heart-breaker for good reason.
Jeremy's VQ35HR 6SP put down a very respectable 245whp, so we are definately seeing a solid 20+whp improvement vs. the standard VQ35. AF was super consistent between runs, at 11.8-12.0:1
Power builds to 6500rpm, and then just flattens out, which is very different from the rapid drop-off we see on the standard VQ35's.
FYI: We also peaked under the dashboard, and can confirm that the VQ35HR uses a completely different ECU. It has three snap in connectors, and all current Plug-and-play EMS systems on the market will need to be reconfigured to work on the 07.

This is what i like about the new engine. Hopefully, there will be some mods that help this out even more in the future.

Nice numbers, I had my MS3 on a Dyno Dynamics dyno this month as well. They are very accurate machines. I can't wait to see how this engine responds to mods

It's too soon to tell. Although Nissan strengthened the engine considerably, they also lightened high areas, in order to increase the REV limit, and smooth out vibration and noise. If I was a gambling man, I would speculate it will handle moderate boost (8-10psi), much much better than the standard VQ35's.
I am not expecting a miracle in strength on this engine, but a virtually unbreakable engine at 450whp would be a nice treat....on the stock block. I think a lot of people would hop over the "FI" fence, if that were the case. I get this feeling, there is a large mass of people that can afford and appreciate FI, but dont have the extra funds to fix things if the engine breaks.

Damn.. that sucks about the ECU connectors. Think we'll just see new adapters released?
I agree on the "FI fence" theory. If i did it I'd want to make sure the engine can handle it and if the HR is bulletproof to 450, I'd be in in a heartbeat. Any idea if any of the current FI setups will work with the HR?

anything us 06 and below owners can do to get our hp and tq to flatline more at the top like the HR engine? And I would assume once the engine is properly broken in we would see maybe another 5hp and 5tq?
