Thumbs up GHL Review, Photos, SOUND & VIDEO!!!

As I write this I am editing a very quick mov file of the GHL Motorsports exhaust in action.

Here is my review.

GHL and West Valley Nissan: Brian is a great guy and he knows his stuff. If you have technical questions I would suggest posting on my350z.com so that others can share info and we dont swamp him with repititive topics. West Valley Nissan shipped the exhaust in perfect condition and the packaging was 1st rate! I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Weight: We did not have a tool to measure scientifically but the GHL exhaust felt no more than 20lbs. The piping to the cat back was even less. Whereas the stock exhaust and piping felt very heavy and we needed 2 people to make sure the stock exhaust didnt drop on us.

Install: if you have the right tools this can be a weekend DIY. Should take no more than 1 hour.

Looks: The GHL tips sit a little further out than the stock tips and since GHL is polished, they look great! Even though the exhaust is covered on my rear bumper, the tips just look like they are gonna spit fire.

Sound: Two thumbs up. I would have to say from the cockpit the car sounds like a v8, almost mustang-ish, below 4300 rpm. Above 4500 rpm it is pretty quiet. I would even say quieter than the stock setup. And when you floor it, the note is very deep and gets other cars attention. "woo woo" jk.

Performance: I noticed several SWEET aftereffects! The car is more stable at higher speeds. I hit 100 and the car was quieter than stock and the excessive vibration of the stick shift was reduced to almost none! And maybe i shot NOS up my nose, but my clutch is also easier to engage. All this happened upon installation of the GHL.

I will have more concrete eveidence may 3rd at the NHRA Spring Nationals. I will make some runs without spraying NOS to see how the exhaust alone affects my time slips. Then with the GHL + NOS.

Here are some pics I took today; all of the underbelly pics are of critical mounting points for install. This set is from both the install at Smithtown Nissan (Ask for Dan aka Bluefish) who had me in and out in 20 minutes, and Grafkdezine, the shop who applyed the vinyls, where i shot some quick videos. Please give me some time to post the video/sound. Thanks.

V,

I can't explain it either. It is just a smoother engagement. it might have something to do with the throttle and its relationship to the clutch. My throttle response must have changed.

Looks like a very nice exhaust. I cant wait to hear some sound clips of it.

For me, when it comes to exhaust, im more interested in sound than hp and tq numbers. Saying you got 7 hp more than a stock Z is great, but what people first notice is the sound. I happy to see lots of different manufactures comming out with exhaust kits for the Z so quickly. I can't wait till i hear them all.

If you want to buy the exhaust, contact Brian Gerber. His ID on this forum is "GHL Motorsports."

If you look at the pictures of the box I posted, there's a toll free number

Let em know that Matt's video/sound of the importlife z sold ya.

Good luck.

Very Nice! That's the smoothest sounding exhaust for the Z yet!

Do you happen to know if the GHL mid pipe is the same exact length as the stock piece? In other words, could you just bolt the GHL muffler on to the stock mid pipe, or the stock muffler on to the GHL mid pipe? Do you think you could check? Also, do you know if GHL would sell just the muffler portion separately? Thanks a lot...looks and sounds good!

Sounds almost like a "cold" stock exhaust with no resonator! Once warm that snarl goes away and sounds much better . . . I dont know if I can handle that constant sound on my car.

Looks good though! Sounds a little, well, rice. Thanks for the video and the pictures .

Sorry to deviate a bit off topic but what body kit is that, specifically the front? I like the dual air intakes, gives the car a meaner look something the standard car lacks.

Agree'd......definately no v-8. No matter what free flow exhaust you make, its going to sound like that though. Its the price to pay for performance

the exhaust i like, the body kit imnot real keen on, the rear makes it to round, looks like the back of a VW beetle. I like kits that dont look like kits. But the exhaust is sweet
