Default Short shifter problems?

Everytime i shift 4 and 5, i always hit the little dip between those two gears and it just jams in there. is this normal on all z's? the previous owner installed a b n m short shifter and i dont know if this the reason. i have two more MT cars and they dont have that problem. (the dip is in between 5 and 6) please advise...

Uhh... You shouldn't be getting caught in any gear. With a little force applied to the right while pushing up, it should go right into 5th? I don't get how its getting caught between those 2 gears? Something isn't right there.

Your shifter guide plate probably isn't wasn't adjusted right when the short shifter was installed. Check out this link.
