Larger duration typically bring about rougher idle, however a good tune can typically smooth it out a bit

what other mods do you have and what are your future plans?

272's usually have idle fluctuations without any sort of tune. 264's should be okay.

i have the tomei 268's and the car would stall out at the normal idle. Bumped it to 1000rpm and its still lopey, but it doesn't stall out. Actually, the lopey sound + tp's and nismo exhaust definitely turn heads around here, hahaha.

I bumped my idle to 1200 RPM with the 268's and it is still loopey as well.

check the duration at .050" valve lift. That is far more important than "advertised duration."

you might have 2 cams with the same "advertised" duration of 262, but one may have lazy ramps, while the other has very aggressive ramps. At .050" lift, there may be a 5 degree difference in the duration! also, there isn't an appreciable amount of flow below .050" either.

On 272 intake and exhaust from Tomei the car won't really idle at 750 rpm but it will at 1000 rpm with a nice sounding lope.

where can you buy 272 Tomei cams? what all do you need other than valve springs?

I bought the cams from Sharif@Forged Performance. I assume you will need new valve springs if you utilize the full power band of the cams. However, I am not 100% positive because I used the valve train that came with the Cosworth heads.
