Default Oil Problem

Hey guys,

My friend is having an issue with his car. He put 2 quarts of oil in the car because it was low on oil. Now oil is leaking from the dip stick, filler cap and the exhaust. I told him to check that he didnt over fill, and he said that the dup stick shows its half way. Did he blow up his engine? HE says the car sounds normal and seems to be running normal? is it ok to drive?

Thank you!

I think your friend is an idiot. And yes he probably over-filled.

Get an oil change ASAP.

The dipstick is only for use by individuals who know how to use it properly.

You can go to most oil places and they will take out the excess oil. If you overfill too much you can cause engine damage if the oil hits the crank and excessive foaming.

Just let him know that if he has a rev-up, the fuel gauge also reads the oil level.

Leaking from the dipstick? What is that supposed to mean? You can not test the oil level when it is hot on the rev-up. Let it sit for a couple hours or better yet, check it in the morning before starting.

[EDIT] Just in case: 06 MT = Rev-up. Also 05 35th Anv

I bet he checked the dipstick running hot rather than after 20 minutes of the engine being off.

lol, leaking oil out of the dipstick port? Your friend needs to take two big steps back from any internal combustion engine nearby. I'm not even sure how this would be possible.

Tell your friend to open the drain, let it all drain out. Then take him to the auto parts store, pick up new oil, read the owners manual and put in exactly as mch in as it says to w/o changing the filter. If you're a good friend, you'll fill it up for him, because he probably doesn't belong in a garage.
