Me and a friend always try and be faster then the other so after i bought my Z he just went out and traded his caviler in for a Z-28 with the Ls1 motor in it...so far all the performance mods i have done is the jwt popcharger..and i was thinkin i would do the 5/8 plenum spacer next..after i do what what else can i do for a reasonable price to beat the Ls1 since im just a poor college student right now?

its going to take a decent amount of mods to beat him if he can drive it well.. the F-body's were all underated from the factory and usually dyno around 300rwhp, they are quick... If i were you I would just save up for some spray...

Nitrous is your only chance.

maybe a handgun and you can shoot out his tires.

They do around 110mph at 14.0 in the 1/4 stock where i live. With some 3.73 gears and slicks and a tune they will do mid 12s.

You might want to spray. With all the mods I have my car only does a 13.6 in a quarter. Could go faster with a better driver though. Most LS1's that I have ran against on the track goes between a 13.2 and a 13.5.

Say you got the plenum spacer, test pipes, and UR crank pulley... You still wont be able to beat him unless you are a top notch driver behind the wheel.

BTW they do a 13.8-14.2 at 3900ft above sea level where i live so at sea level thats about a 12.9-13.2, bascially your up the creek without a paddle unless you use some nitrous.

Test pipes, headers, exhaust, spacer, 3.9 gear, intake and that should do it. But as soon as he does one thing, its back to square one.

hmmm..well thats not good lol..maybe i should just sabotage his motor the night before we race jk..either way i think i am goin with the spacer and test pipes pretty soon..will any of this cause the engine light to come on?..maybe even spray in the end but would i need anymore engine mods to be able to run a good enough shot off of it?

Go on the second honk, or maybe the 1st... or challenge him at the drag strip, and get real good by practicing when he's not there. There are more ways to win a "race" (like bracket racing) without really being faster. Take it to a road course, and leave him in the dust. Those cars are pigs.

Gear swap, would most likely help you the most. Usually you can swap somone with one.

Nitrous will be easy and it's not too expensive.
