Lets have another "How to drive a manual?" discussion(SpoolinZ is not allowed)
So when you are up shifting it is not good to skip gears. For example you are accelerating 1st, 2nd and then to save some time and fuel 5th . I have done it on my other car and never had a problem with it. However skipping gears creates excessive heat in the trany. So what do you think, how bad it is to skip gears?

I never skip gears. I might be going at 75 mph in 4th, but I still shift to 5th, then shift to 6th out of habbit even if the whole process takes 2-3 seconds.
Besides...shifting is fun. Why skip gears? Sounds like you don't like to have fun

I skip gears all the time, usually 3rd and 5th and my gas mileage is better. Does it wear the transmission? Maybe, I've read conflicting reports but considering that I won't be keeping the Z until it runs into the ground, it may not be an issue.
Also, it may not be more fun to drive this way but with the money I save on gas, I have fun in other ways like going out, buying games and HD DVDs, etc.

The actual 99 TransAm and Z28 cars with the 6mt tranny had a shift skip feature which locked 2nd gear out and forced you to 4th from 1st if you didn't go over a certain speed. Kinda cool but I disabled it.
