Its neccessary.....I couldn't imagine driving mine without it. Unless you like that one rear tire just spinning constantly.

^^ +1

LSD transfers power to more rubber (two tires instead of just one) to the roadway.

You could get a base and use the money to get a better after market LSD.

get a base and if u dont really the car hard, you can buy my VLSD. the viscous unit doesn't quite cut it at the track. TCS on the car is crap, itjust cuts power. i dont know about VDC, maybe that system is better but i'd rather drive my own car than have a computer do it for me.

From 2006 (haven't kept up with 2007 trims)... models with LSD were Track and Grand Touring.

Touring has fluff as mentioned. Track has the Brembo's, staggered wheels, LSD, etc.

TCS is great. It is good in the rain. I drive every day... when I'm spacing in heavy traffic it can save me from doing something stupid -- like jumping on it too hard, or something that might make me lose it. I jumped on the gas a little too hard in the rain once, and the TCS and LSD really saved my butt -- without those I would have surely had my rear end slide out... putting the side of my car broadside into oncoming traffic... in the rain.

What happened was I floored it to get around the car in front of me... the tires did spin a bit (but straight on and equally so it didn't pull to one side or the other). I pulled out into the middle lane and chilled and was fine. Trying to beat upcoming cars behind me instead of just waiting like I should'a... bad move in hindsight. It woulda been ugly if the car wasn't "bogged" down with TCS. Dunno if it woulda spun out so true straight without the LSD... I don't think so, but I'm not for sure.

Easy to get carried away with this car sometimes. I'm pretty good at checking myself... so, been fairly good at not being stupid lately. I think.

Then when you are cruising and want to enjoy the car and push it a bit you can turn the TCS off.

That's just my couple'a ten cents.

My car is a GT so... the TCS is a subset of the VDC. So, I don't know if TCS behaves that much different without the full VDC package.

But for me... VDC is cool for me, like I said.

Default rear diff. question

I purchased a base 06 z and I have a question for you guys. I do not have a lsd rear end in the car but the car posi's everytime. Also the rear tires have worn evenly as it is now time to replace both of them after 13000 mi. I thought if it was an open rearend that the right tire would wear faster than the left. I laid down a good 2nd and left perfect posi lines. They were exactly the same length about 15 feet each .I would assume that an open diff would only leave one line. Any insight into this would be great. Is there any way to tell what kind of rear I have by vin or tag on the rear?
