look at the v6 engines that VQ has to compete with: eclipse v6=terrible, mustang v6=terrible, tiburon v6=terrible, cadillac CTS v6=alright but pushing 4200 lbs around, basically unless the v6 engine is coming from a company with a name like Porsche, noble, ect its not even worth mentioning in the same breath as a VQ35HR. If we are going to compare our v6 platform with FI v8's or 65,000 sports cars (c6 z06) then we should at least be fair about it and give the Z half of the difference in price to add mods and tune. so lets do the math.
z06- 60,000
350z-28,000
difference-32,000 (thats a whole extra Z BTW)
so lets say the Z is allowed half of the difference to mod (stroked/TT/N20, ect)
that gives the Z 16,000 to work with. Easy win for the Z every time. Stop comparing the Z with cars 2-3X its price. All that does is show how AMAZING the Z is. How many cars can be mentioned in the same breath as a car worth 2-3X its price. I know the z06 certainly can't keep up with cars that sticker@180,000. Take your **** elsewhere.

um actually it does.... even more so after you ditch the runflats... but thats not what this thread is about....
I just wish the VQ was a bit better in response to mods. I hate having to spend $$$ and only gain 5whp.
Lake a LS series motor... swap the cams and a few other small things and you get some nice gains. Face it the VQ is maxed out in its n/a form.

Isn't the VQ rated the #1 engine in its class for how many years? I guess after having it for so long, the adrenaline rush is not there anymore. Same here. I got used to the power in the Z, coming from a torque-less honda in like 2 weeks because I was flooring it a few times everyday during the period. But I have got to admit, its definitely the best entry level sports car for its price and Im in love with the way it looks. Im definitely keeping it for a looooooonnnnng time.
Its too bad the manufacturer pulled every ounce of HP from the engine from the factory tho'. I wish the VQDE had a better response to basic bolt-ons.
