Here's how I see it:
1. Stock for stock, 350Z is a great performer. It's very well balanced. The engine is solid and has more then enough power to satisfy the mortals.
2. Given what is said above, 350Z is NOT a cheap platform to build big power on. There's plenty of other more economical platforms to go beyond 500whp. Blowing 10K to get there is pretty expensive. You can get to 500whp on an EVO or STI in half that money with more traction and reliability.
So, to conclude, if you have the mod bug, 350Z is not a grat platform for that. Prepare to open up your wallet. If you want something that is a great all around performer and you're planning not to go all out with modding, Z is a car for you. It is what it is.

If you have to sell your cars just because the price of gas went up to $5 a gallon, you have other issues than complaining about how VQ sucks. If an extra 40 bucks a week in gas is breaking your bank, sell your Z and get a Geo Metro.
Besides, wtf is the point of owning a fast car in Hawaii anyway? You have one lame 1.3 mile circuit, and on the street, everyone drives so damn slow there's no place to stretch the legs of a performance car.

VQ definitely does not "suck." The HR is a fantastic engine.
skeet96707 fits the description of a stupid kid who probably has never owned nor has driven a real sports car in his life. I bet he has an ungratifying small ***** and is an excellent failure in life.
If this was my kid I would have killed him just for failing so bad.
