Default Engine Stays HOT!

Hey Z Forum,

I had a question about engine tempatures. After running the car in 95 degree heat, the engine gets very hot. But even after letting the car sit in the garage with the hood open for 2 hours the engine is still to hot to touch for more then 5 seconds. I noticed this when i was NA too. Maybe its me but i think these engines hold their heat for a long time. Does anyone have any good ideas for cooling the car down other then a bigger radiator, fans, water wetter, ect? Like removing the engine cover, Cooling plate, Intercooler Sprayer?

Have you guys had this problem?

you've got a turbo car, running in hot temps, in a very closed engine environment.....its supposed to be hot, nothing to worry about.

Parking your car in the garage with no air flow on a hot day, hood up or not, your engine will stay hot for a few hours at least

I have a greddy cooling plate, is there any proof that this really helps cool the engine?

I have the Veilside hood and it helps alot, you can actually see the heat disburst through the vents.

^ thats what i thought.

Even with the turbos being water cooled, do you still need a turbo timer?

a turbo timer is a convenience mod, not a security one. After a spirited run in the car, you can make sure your last couple minutes of driving are non boosted, or just sit in the car after running it hard for a couple minutes before shutting off. The turbo timer simply allows you to leave the car running without having to sit in it.

I see. But letting the car sit at idle is supposed to keep my engine temps down? I can see it helping the turbos cool down but wouldn't it make my engine hotter?

who cares how hot the engine gets? It's an engine...it's supposed to be hot when running.

The turbo timer keeps the car running after you turn the key off...the purpose is to keep the oil circulating a bit longer so it doesn't just sit and "coke" in the lines or housing of the turbo. Like I said, easing up on the last few minutes of a hard driving session does the same thing

It's not for cooling the engine, it is for directing the airflow toward the radiator more.

No, it is not to help cool the engine down. It is supposed to do what Adam said above.
