4500 Miles to soon for Synth. oil?
I just got my oil changed the other day in my 05, I just bought it and wanted to make sure it had good oil in there, so at 4000 miles I put in mobile 1 synth. in there..Will that be ok? or did I jump the gun and put it in there to early?

I don't think it will cause damage or anything, but I know a moderator suggested at around 20K. An oil analysis he/she had done showed his/her car was still being broken in at 10K miles.
Also, from what I have read on here, M1 is not longer a level 4 syn. I would go for Royal Purple 10W30 or Amsoil.

ok thanks for responses. I was reading on here where it had said that our motors were not broken in until like 20k, and i said well crap. But anyway, thanks again

as you can see, many different opinions, we have had the best luck running non-synthetic for at least the first 1000 miles on a brand new engine, even to be a bit safer, 2000 miles, before switching to synthetic....
20,000 miles, woah! you would have passed the mark there as far as experiencing the benefits of synthetic oil if you waited that long!

Waiting 4000 miles on an OEM engine is more than adequate...waiting to 20K miles is insane! With the super tight tolerances in an OEM engine, your engine is pretty much broken in when you drive it off the showroom floor. As a precaution, most people wait until 1500 miles or so before switching to synthetic.
Dude, hurry up n get that mobile 1 synthetic oil change!! I got it around 3k and I wish I did it sooner. When u change ur oil the first time, u also get rid of lots of little metal shiznit from ur new engine, in other word, u protect ur engine by cleaning it from inside out... I broke in a little over 3k, and it still runs aweson...80k
remember 2 warm up ur ride all the time if u want to maintain that power after years of driving and racing...

I switched to Mobil 1 at 1,000 miles. Many new cars come with synthetic oil to begin with. I don't see why you need to wait to switch. The object is to keep the parts from wearing.
My oil is tested every oil change to be sure there is no abnormal wear. Do any of you test yours?

But back on topic, I'm at ~300 miles on the motor... is it recommended to stay with dino-oil for a bit longer with the Arias ED pistons? I thought I read about that... if so, when should I switch to synthetic?

Something to do with carbon buildup I believe...

the chrome top ring in the arias ED pistons will take longer to seal compared to a softer ring. Typically, running standard oil for the first 1500-2000 miles should be sufficient. I have always switched to synthetic at 2000miles on my personal engine (running arias ED).
