tilton full street clutch
Hi guys, i did a search on the full street tilton clutch, but i couldn't find where to purchase one. where can the whole setup and 8lb flywheel? thanks.
I had a tilton for about 12k miles and it is pretty rough, especially if you're sitting in stop and go traffic (be prepared for burning smells, lol)
IMHO, you'll be much better served by going with a light-weight ATS Carbon clutch... it weighs in at 9.8lbs and is much more friendly

Maybe David Muramoto will chime in here, but I love that clutch. It's an absolute blast on the track as heel & toe is so much easier with it- just a slight jab and the rpm's rocket to redline. It is very "on/off" but it can be mastered with a little time. I didn't think it was that hard to use around town. It does seem to have a very short life span, so it won't last as long as some other options that are almost as light.

i had a tilton for about 13-14k miles and every time I thought I "mastered" it, I'd quickly find out I hadn't and would stall unexpectedly while in traffic.
around town it's just too easy to not be 100% focused on the clutch while you're paying attention to other cars, where you're going, reading signs, keeping an eye out on people etc.
it's nice though, but not friendly at all. It made driving a chore

so what would be the lightest flywheel next to the tilton, with a friendlier clutch for street driving. i just love those fast revs from the tilton though. its like a carrera gt.

Problem was, even with careful rev matching and starts, the black street compound ALWAYS wore out quickly. Mine lasted about 10K and the cost of replacement is not cheap. Currently, I've got it out of the Z, but I have a new Kevlar lining that I'm dying to try out. While it's still experimental, we may have more details in a future issue of Nissan Sport.
I wouldn't recommend using a full-race Tilton clutch (with two cerametallic discs) on the street. Having raced GT tubeframe cars with this setup, it's extremely touchy to operate and while it handles a TON of power, overall durability for street use is not good.

Cheaper alternative I've been looking at is the Clutchmaster, who claims that their flywheel weights 10.5lbs...
i'm not saying the exhaust sounds like a carrera gt. i'm just saying the rev quickness is the same in neutral. and i've heard a tilton 8lb flywheel on a z, and a carrera gt, and the Z might have revved even quicker.
