Default Clink sound when down-shifting?

Hi,

I have a little question for you guys.

I don't know if this applies to all the years of 350z or just mine(which is 2007 model)

but most of time, let say, I down shift from 6th to 5th (and I do rev-match),

as soon as I release the clutch, I hear some kind of clink sound from the

bottom of my car.

I don't think I am popping out clutch that quickly either.

I'm assuming that maybe the synchro is working, I'm not sure.

(maybe I should try double clutch)

is there anybody having same issue?

Is it normal? or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your inputs.

The z has a loud tranny and clutch. I've heard the "clink" in just about every gear when the clutch physically engages. I'd say it's normal, but it's it's substantially louder than any other gear you may have a problem.

You guys are both wrong. It's a common problem with the 350. I call it the axle click, I am not mechanically inclined so someone else will have to chime in about the exact cause. If you take the car in to a stealurship they will charge you $200 or so to re-bolt and grease up your rear axle. Fixed. It's a 50-50 shot if they cover it under warranty.

The reason it's louder in the lower gears is because you don't have the road noise that you would have..... at say......65 mph. Try going in reverse and the hit first gear....you will really hear it then.

i brought my car in twice for this. the first time they greased the axle and the noise was gone until the next day. i let the car sit with minimal driving for a month as i moved and took it in again. i drove the car and the service manager hearad the sound. they called me back a couple days later because they could not duplicate the sound. i come in a drive it and its gone. seems to come and go as it wishes. i dont drive the car daily so i haven't had problems with it but as soon as i hear it again im taking it in.

Is the clicking axle still a problem for the 2007 models? I know it was a problem for earlier models, but I'm surprised it's still an issue for the 2007s.

as long as my car is under warranty, im bringing it in for any and all problems. worse case is they say its not covered but atleast you brought it to their attention and your car also gets a free inspection.

I have noticed a clink sound also. When I had my car up on a lift I noticed some rubbing between the rear sway bar and the Stillen exhaust. I'm guessing that is the source of my clinking.
