Default Post Oil Change

i finally switch to synthetic Castrol Syntec 0w30 w/ Mobil 1 filter. If feels like the car rides better now. But wondering how I lost 1 quart. Is it because I shift at higher RPM's now? My last previous oil changes I lost about 1/2 quarts each(dino oil). I was planning on changing oil every 5k since I switched to synthetic but I think my next one will be after 3k. This is my 5th oil change with the z.

Syn oil won't make your car "ride" better. If you're going to change @ 3k intervals, synthetic is a waste. The only real benefit of syn oil is a longer change interval, but you still have to change the filter according to the manual. If you have an engine the "uses" a lot of oil especially if it's blowing by the rings, syn oil will usually make it worse in my experience.

from what i have always been told synthetic oil has a better level
of lubrication and a higher threshold for heat

i switched back to dino oil from synthetics cuz i don't need to watch my oil level between changes whatsoever.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!
There are MANY benefits over conventional oil, thermal breakdown, film strentgh, viscocity index, additive package, overall protection, less drag, better flow, as well as extended drain intervals.
And blow bye has nothing to due with the type of oil you use.
You obviously have no clue what your talking about!!!!!!

OK, I have no clue. The Syn vs. Dino oil continue here and everywhere else.
Today's conventional oil are very close in performance to the more expensive synthetics. Is the average person driving the average Z in an average way going to see any "real-world" benefits except for a longer change interval? I don't think so but feel free to use whatever you want. There are many instances of people switching to syn oil that experience increased oil useage which could outweigh any "perceived" benefits. I've had this happen. Here's a link the the very long and detailed "Oil Analyis Thread" from our own Tech Section. Interesting reading. link You know someone asked for an opinion. No need to get nasty there junior.

I use synthetic oil and have done so for a while. Everything I have ever read says synthetic is better than dino oil. But, I guess it depends on your personal situation and preference.

Watch your oil level closely 0-30 tends to burn a lot faster so that is why you experienced a loss of 1qt, i have heard of cases in a civic where a person ran 0-30 and burned up almost all of the oil in the engine, shifting at redline all the time though.

Just know that 0-30 burns faster, so keep a eye on it.

The placebo effect is very powerful. My Z seems to ride better after it is washed and waxed.
