Hi all, first of all I have a 07 Z with only about 2,500 miles on it.
I am one of the many who have had the loud noise issues with the transmission. I understand our transmission is noisy but found something interesting I wanted to share.

1. the odd rattling noise which is present when the car is in neutral. this sound came and went as i drove but many times as i pulled into my garage and just listened to it in neutral it would be present as long as the clutch wasn't pressed in.

But recently for the past 2 weeks i have noticed something new.

1. The rattling noise is gone completely and i can't get it to appear at all.

Now what everyone is waiting for...I DON'T KNOW why the sound doesn't appear. My car is still stock other than sounds and the D-wolf clutch kit which on a side note is probably the best mod i could've ever bought, even if you don't want to buy it there is a DIY method which works. Both mods were done long ago and wouldn't have any affect on the clutch.

The main point of my thread is for other owners with the chattering issue to take your car into the dealer to have it checked. I know there are many (myself included) who didn't take it in cause everyone says it's a normal aspect of the transmission.

But after having the sound not appear for two weeks, if it were to come back, I would take it in to be checked out immediately cause it's so much nicer not hearing that noise.

Anyone with a similar experience please post and also if you took your car in for the noise was the dealer to able to fix the problem. thank you.

 

Good post, I'm in the same boat as you, but I agree, I'm hearing it much less now, and I'm only around 1,000. The first few hundred miles were painful.
