Try 15# and a longer burnout (horrible run as I missed 3rd gear but still won!):

I do need to work on the burnout. I usually do about 5 sec. or so, but to be honest, I still suck at power braking a stickshift. Also do you feel 15# is safe for a 4200lb truck? I tried 20# once but it felt a little squirly towards the traps to me so I brought it back up to 22lbs. But I might be imagining it. I'm also running tubeless if that effects the recommended PSI.

It does get squirrely. That's because you have a bias-ply tire one one end and non bias-ply on the other end. The rear will dance around. It does that to me, too, which can be hairy at >130mph when I finish my run.

Scott, thanks for the input with the tires. I will try lowering the PSI some next trip. What do you think about my 4.10 gear/LSD swap plans? Do you think I should realistically see a few tenths gains, with the assumption the LSD will allow me to hook up better, and the gears will get me in my power band faster and give me added torque as a bonus? Thats of course assuming a mediocre driver(me ) can actually learn to launch proper too. I would really be happy with a 13.9 in the 1/4. I think that would be a pretty cool goal for a NA V6 4100lb truck with bolt-ons.

Absolutely yes with a good LSD and the DRs. What gear and RPM in that gear do you finish at now? Just make sure you're not going to need another gear shift.

Now I go through the traps in 4th gear at about 5200rpms. With gears I think my truck should go through the traps at about 6200rpms and also in 4th. Which I understand is pretty good, since my peak power is right at 6300rpm. Plus my rev limiter is set to 6800, so I still have a little breathing room in case I need it down the road.

Believe what you want, chief, I know the car. It has 4.08 gears (now) and was he runs on the special, but stock, RE070A tires.

More info - stock GTR wheels and tires:

http://www.r35gtr.com:
"20 x 9.5" (front) and 20 x 10.5" (rear) super-lightweight forged-aluminum wheels with Gunmetal Gray finish. Exclusively developed nitrogen-filled Bridgestone RE070A high-capacity run-flat summer tires, 255/40R20 front and 285/35R20 rear.

Oh, I also have these:

Reading comprehension owns you. Neither car is stock, the 370 has 4.08 gears, the 350 has stock 3.5 gears. "Dude" is tracking his brand new 370Z, what do you do with yours? It has a huge ST60 (15") front StopTech brake kit and ST40 (14") rear StopTech brake kit, so it requires 19" wheels or larger. He had access to the 20" GTR wheels with the special Bridgestone tire, which - at the time - was a better option than ~$1600 in 19" track tires for the stock 19" wheels.

Default Z1

Thanks Z1, everything arrived in Singapore without a hitch.

Although the HKS Technical Factory has some great mechanics, they are having some minor problems (I hope). They think they over-torqued something because they put it all together and 2 of the mechanics took it out separately and came back saying it is a little too tight. I did not ride along but should have.

They are going to take it back apart and inspect the bearings I expect and re-assemble it.

Any advice to the mechanics with what little info I am able to provide above appreciated.

Default 4.083 Final Drive Factory Manual

As usual, I should have done my research here first before asking the above.

I went to http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/350Z/ and followed up to here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/frontier...ontier/DLN.pdf and found the factory manual for the Frontier Driveline and found the section for the 4.083 Final Drive assembly on page 221 to 242.

It's too big to post here but this might help!

I Finished installing the 4.08 gears on my 06 roadster. I did my homework for about a week or two and finally gained the courage to get it done my self. Gears aside, I spent about 80 bucks buying mobil 1 oil and some tools needed for the job, it also includes a 20 pack of budlight and a oil seal i tore! It wasnt really hard at all after watching youtube videos and checking installs of different gears on different cars. Its basically all the same. I test drove the car and was very suprised of how much the car pulls. I havent really pressed on it since im waiting for them to break in. first gear is so fast and second gear kicks in almost as if the car wants to lift up. Very Cool!!! I dont hear any gear noise at all like some of you have posted. I recommend getting this job perfesonally done if you have no experience. I recomment trying to do this job your self to all of you who have some mechanics experience.

Default misplaced disappointment

Too many FI >600hp wrx's amd evo's here. They are disappointing with the effort and time put into mine. For the most part, I'm just staying ahead of these guys, just!

Weight loss!! that's next!!

Z1 I have an 07 HR. I find little info on the 4.083 final drive for us 5at owners.

I was wondering the following:
-will an aftermarket ecu like osiris, technosquare, ect... correct the problem w/ the cruise control on us 5at owners?
-when cruising at 80mph will I see near identical rpm range as the OP (of course if my tires were same size as his that is)
-where can I order an aftermarket pumpkin w/ fins? I've heard we need a different pumpkin...

I'm essentially looking for stock fuel mileage for my 5at hr while improving acceleration. I don't care about top speed one bit.

there is no 4.08 offered for an auto - you will need to change your differential in order for a 4.08, or any other gear set, to work with any automatic Z

your rpm question is answered on the first post of this thread

you would need to consult with technosquare or uprev as far as the cruise functionality, I have no info on this, sorry

Need some help here. I'm trying to order these gears but Nissan will no longer honor my warranty. So where is everyone having their gears installed? Anyone know of anyone in the omaha or denver region.
