Anyone know of any good threads on these forums with reviews pertaining to lsd's?
Considering the carbonetics now but one of my friends suggested a kaaz as he had it in his 240....plus i just saw on the marketplace for $1200 they have the kaaz w/ the 1.5 or 2 way parts so you can interchange them to whatever you want.
However...I believe I have read in a few places that the kaaz are kind of loud compared to some of the others....

FINALLY got my diff. back and installed. The gears make the car more responsive for sure. It feels like the faster you go, the faster your car accelerates with these. The pull was great on my "test run" and I never really got 100% into it. I thought the difference would be a bit more due to the hype but I'm still very happy with them. My MPGs fell from about 27 to around 25. Not too bad.

scratch that. I was waiting it out, making sure everything seemed right and all. (I know there really shouldn't be a break in on a diff. build)
I got on it pretty good on an on-ramp yesterday and HOLY ****. The car just pulls. Best bang for the buck seems to be an accurate statement. I can't wait to get a new clutch and flywheel now. It's very hard to not romp on it now that I felt the difference!

gears are essentially unrelated to hp, gears are a torque multiplier
the 380rsc (Nissan's GT class 3.8 liter factory race car) has more hp and more torque than just about anyone's car here, and runs 4.3's fwiw. These are heavy cars with relatively torqueless engines in 3.5 liter form...they need to be either stroked or built to to rev (or both) to make power and they need gears to be remotely competitive with other cars in their class
4.08 is hardly anything nuts

Thank you very much, I have read reviews in here about people who have done this and say 1st gear is worthless and not to do it if you are going fi, I am not going fi, but I think 300whp is more than most of the people run with these gears and I was concerned I would spend money to make my car a burn out queen and not a better performing car.

Not sure who the first gear is worthless crowd is. Traction is a function of many things. Ive got more power than most, good diff, grippy tires and 4.3's and first works just fine

ditto z1.
1st gear is just more fun. i have 4.08s and it's pure fun. also running a cusco 1.5 which helps put the power down. and drifting is easy as pie with this combo.
and 300whp vs flywheel hp are very different, but i don't think u would still be able to say 1st gear is worthless.

I have relatively heavy wheels (Volk GTS) but 1st gear is definitely a lot more fun now. The car just revs and pulls hard. Yes, you can break traction more easily than stock but with the right moderation, you will not have issues. The car should have come stock with the 4.08 gears. It's so much more enjoyable. The gas mileage is a bit worse but probably b/c I can't resist the urge to play on the on-ramps.
Anyone who says 1st gear is pointless with these is either treating the throttle like an on/off switch or is beating the absolute **** out of their car.

Has anybody had issues with their speedometer after installing the 4.08? A friend of mine said it would need to be recalibrated,, not sure if this is true for the Z. Also, does anybody have and average 0 to 60 time for a HR with 4.08's..... just curious?

I have lightweight wheels and am very close to 300 whp. I would have taken it to redline, but was running out of flat road. I was alittle weary of the body kit taking it. There was quite a bit of vibration at that speed with the V3 body kit, the hood was also fluttering.
