Lighter flywheel combined with 4.083 gears
So from I gathered from earlier posts, there are no issues with running lightened flywheel (ACT Streetlite) with 4.083 gears. Anyone running that setup? Comments, drawbacks, stories of great wins or terrible defeats?

I'm sure it could. Don't see why not as it's a stock part for those trucks. Just make sure you're pulling it out of the correct model Frontier. I can't remember which one it's out of off the top of my head, but you can google it to find out for sure.

Definately cheaper out of a Junkyard, I snagged mine for $270 shipped. Great condition and came out of a 30k miles 2005 Frontier King Cab.
Finally setting the gears and quaife diff up this week.
Will have a fully detailed DIY written up once its all done and installed.

4.08 gears
I found mine by looking through car-part.com
It is a network of auto salvage yards where they can list the parts, condition, and price.
There was a place in Southern Washington that had a whole rear axle for about $300, but they would not take it apart to ship.
I got lucky found a place in AZ that had the rear axle messed up but they pulled the gears and diff out. Was sitting on their shelf for a year or so wrapped in plastic when i called.
Search around for yard listing other rear axle parts and call them. Thats how I found mine.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but just wanted to ask one simple question, and want one simple answer! I have an 08 Z, ecu tuned, top speed governor turned off. If the 4.083 gears are installed, could I--theoretically, utilize 6th gear to keep going past the 5th gear limit of 140ish something miles an hour that the 4.083 would bring? To go 160+? Just wondering!

3.91 vs 4.08
I also have a 08 HR with rev limit increased by 500rpm. I guess the top speed depends on the tire size as well. I have 275/35/19 tires in rear which is I believe close to 27" slick. I'm trying to decide between the 3.91 and 4.08 gears. I rarely go up to 160 but I do once in a while and I don't want to cut it down at all. Which one would you guys go with considering my setup?
I drive about 70 miles/day on highway and that is another reason why I was afraid 4.08 might be overkill.
I also have the Touring model so I assume I don't need an aftermarket LSD right?
Thank you guys for your help and time!

Very soon I will be swapping back to stock gearing if anyone is looking for a set of 4.08's. They were fun for a while but now that fi im sick of shifting every 2-3 sec. For N/a they are awesome and for the 1/4 they are good for et's if you can hook up, but for everyday cruising/ hiway not overly impressed
