I don' care about some nvh, but would be so pissed to crack my PE cats or ARC exhaust.

I was going to put the stillen damper on, but wasn't sure if it would add stress to the exhaust compenents, or if it would lessen it?

i thingk it puts less stress on the exhaust because instead of being able to move around on the rubber bushings, it stays stiff with the frame therefore not moving as much

On the stock exhast components or exhaust systems with flex pipes I don't think it will make much difference. With test pipes and solid y-pipes it could help.

I have one and my test pipes cracked. I have had 3 sets now and they all broke. If companies would make them out of 14 gauge mild steel there would be no problem. The use 18-20 gauge stainless which I think sucks.

ebay crap just doesn't have as stringent quality controls + overall material quality.

I have a Weapon-R engine damper, but stock exhaust components. So I can't say for certain what it will do to aftermarket parts. I believe it'll put less stress on them, since they won't be moving around much.

I've got my damper set at 10mm which is the most rigid setting, and have had no issues, but like I said, I'm all stock.

Where are the mounting points, both on the engine, and on the body for the Weapon-R? I ask because I had a Stillen damper and the JWT TT kit piping interfered with it, so I chose the TT kit over the engine damper...

One end mounts up, at the passenger-side strut tower, and the other, to two points on the lower corner of the plenum, under the engine cover. Sorry, if my description is unclear.

This is the cleanest pic I have right now, I'll try to get a couple with the engine cover off for ya.

The strut tower end has a bracket, which you can see, goes over top of the strut tower bar. Engine-side, has basically a T-bracket, which connects to the plenum. One end, at the top left corner of the engine cover, at the hole below my strut tower bar, and the other, basically straight across from the damper, about 6" or so. Like I said, I'll get a couple pics with the engine cover off.

If you could do me one more favor, can you get some close ups of the mounting points, particulary on the strut bar? The G has a slightly different strut top, and I am trying to figure out if I could make this damper fit.

Thanks again
Dave

No problem, Dave. I'll do it, as soon as I get off work, and will have the pics up this evening.

Interested too to see some mounting points too. I was interested in buying an engine dampener, but was wondering how hard it is to install... Any comments or tips on installing one of these....

Install isn't difficult at all.

First, I had to decide how much dampening I wanted. I decided for max peformance, so I set it as firmly as possible, which was 10mm. This, by manufacturer's recommendation will give the best damping without excessive wear.

Then just attach the mounting brackets, had to remove two bolts from the passenger-side strut bar, to attach, then attach the other to the closest edge of the plenum. Bolt the damper on, had to compress it just a bit. Modify the engine cover, just slightly, so that it will sit flat again, after the bracket goes on, and I was done.

Will have pics up this evening, so my explanation will be clear soon.
