High Oil Pressure
Hey guys i recently got my car back from the body shop from a minor fender bender. I noticed my oil pressure is really higher then usual. When i got the car back, immediately i did not notice the oil pressure being high but later that night when i got into the car it was at 120. It has slowly gone down to just under 60psi idle and when its under acceleration it will come close if not past even sometimes the 120psi mark. so it was really high all the time for like a day then started to go down little by little now its just at a 60 idle as i said above. please give me any suggestions as to why this is happening. Im using mobile1 5w-30 its been in for 3000miles today and a PUREone oil filter which also only has 3000miles. Im changing my oil tomorrow to some M1 0w-40 and getting a new filter to see if that does anything. im just fed up with this now because a while back i had issues and it was just my oil sending unit, no big deal, but if thats the case again its really frustrating to have the same problem over and over again. lol i can only imagine how you 06 guys feel about oil consumption
I had the same thing happen to me, on mine it was the sending unit. If it's not too late wait on the oil change and get a new sending unit to change at the same time, it's right next to the filter. Have some teflon tape for the threads of the new one. I bought mine at the dealer, cost 99 bucks and online I've seen them around 70.
I think it happens from reving the engine when the oil is cold and the pressure is too much for an old sending unit.
BTW the M1 0W-40 will make it even higher.

Thanks for the info. Something else came to mind also but i dont know if it is at all related. I just recently got a new HKS oil cap that. is it possible that the oil cap has a high pressure or something? I put the cap on alittle bit before the accident so a while before the oil issue. just thought id mention that.
The oil cap should have no affect. I carefully watch my rpm's when cold, I'm thinkung that if the engine is reved too high when cold the higher oil pressure actually pegs out the sending unit and damages it.
