Stillen 5AT Valve Body Upgrade
So, I've got an '06 5AT Z, and I want to do the Stillen shift upgrade. You send out the transmission valve body to them, and they modify it, making it shift firmer and quicker. Has anyone done this upgrade, and is anyone experienced with its affects on the transmission warranty? The car's got 2 grand on the odo... Thanks!

Since i dont think forged does them anymore go and get one from sgp.......more money but worth it.
You have fo pay to play is my motto. Just go for it !!! The worst thing that can happen is you'll have to rebuild your tranny for $3K. Well worth it in my opinion. Don't forget, a quicker shifting tranny in daily use has less slipage and thus makes your tranny last longer. However, if you plan to chirp every gear you can no cars tranny will last very long. ;-)

Also if you do a vb def get a trans cooler to keep the temp,s in there optimal range.
Yes you are nuts !!! Lol !!! But, I can understand your love for the Z/G. It's tossable that is why I'm on my sixth Z. ;-) For the cheap power play I had to go LSx* route. However, for you it looks like money isn't an issue. That's a good thing !!!
* LSx = LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS7 ..... for those that don't like or know GM.

I had Stillen's autobox upgrade done on my 2006 Z, (I also have a Stillen s/c )
and I found it gave a useful improvement - for sane street use. VERY brisk changes from a standing start. Good value I think, but it depends on what you expect from the car and how much you abuse it...

Don't worry about warranty. Unless a valve body destroys your transmission, there's nothing they can do to use it against you for regular warranty work. Unless they notice the faster shifts on a test drive, its undetectable to a tech.
The only advantage to waiting for a car to get out of warranty is well... you have an old car without a warranty instead of enjoying it now.
I always knew you had that molester look to you.

65,000 is a LONG time to wait. So, the warranty's out the window. Essentially, you buy a Z without a warranty, I guess - they're not stupid, they know you'll modify it. I think I'll do the Stillen one, after all. It's for the street, not the track. Will a stock AT Transmission with the Stillen upgrade be able to handle the APS twin turbo setup?
