tt in 5at z
im sure this has been said and im sure im going to get all the get a 6mt bs, but i love my 5at and wouldnt get a 6mt if i could get a new one but anyways with all that said i am wondering if my transmision can handle puting a twin turbo in or if it is just not strong enough. also i read in another post that you can put differnt gears in and it said to get a pumpkin out of a 6 speed? what is the pumpkin?
honestly, if you have to ask that question you have no business messing with the car. but FYI the pumpkin is what houses the final drive and the LSD. do a search on that and you will find your answers. aslo check the F/I section, there are a few that are running with a 5AT.

ugh it dont matter what transmission you have.... 6mt vs a 5at is just a personal preference.....
i know a guy w/ a 5at 350z w/ a greddy TT kit on it and he said he hast had any problems so far...

First of all you would not want a 6 speed pumpkin or gearing in your car if your going turbo keep your gearing you have unless your building it up N/A which you arent' . The 6mt guys change out to the auto's gearing because they need longer gears which is better for FI. Next yes there is 5at running tt boost coack k is someone you should be talking to if you are serious.
Actually you will be surprised to know that the auto guys have alot less problems with their transmission then the manual guys. Be aware that when you add more power to the auto you need to modify it. I would say anything over 400lb of torque you need to do a vb upgrade i believe you will be good into the 600 which im sure you won't be hitting.
If you do not do this you will eventually destroy your transmission and if i was you i would do this the same time you boost your engine so that you dont get any slippage going 2 days after your boosted. Your also welcome for the info lol just jk.

pumpkin = rear differential
final drive ratio is smaller for 5AT and larger for 6MT. The larger ratio gives you more acceleration but lower top speed.
Since 1st gear is already incredibly short on 350z's it is usually not recommended to go with bigger final drive ratios for TT applications.
Many people run TT's with 5AT but you will probably want to consider a valve body upgrade and transmission cooler.
That said, you have a long way to go if you're planning this for your car. Start by doing independent research on the forums instead of asking for spoon-feeding.... learning how to use the search function is valuable

There are plenty of guys with autos running TT, I myself am one of them. Due to the power level I am aiming for I have upgraded the VB and TC and have upgraded the coolers plus the tranny internals, you can never to be to safe.

I have already had one dyno done when I picked the car up from GTM but due to only having 50 miles on the block we only tuned up to 9psi. I made 400rwhp and 440trq.
Going back in December to have it bumped up to 14psi and see what she can do.

If I go FI witha 5AT, and get a VB upgrade how much hp can the auto transmission handle?
My goal would be around 550 rwhp. If I need to build the transmission more, what else would I need and where would I get it??????????
