Default How long do you wait until you hit the gas ?

We all know that redlining the car right out the drive way is bad for the engine . When i had my miatas i would drive 7 miles before going over 3000 rpm's . In my Z i drive 10 miles before i go beyond 3k rpm .

How long does everyone else wait before burrying the loud pedal ?

Once the engine has reached normal operating temperature and the oil pressure has dropped to normal, then you're pretty safe in doing just about anything you want.

I start moving within 1 minute of a cold start. This subject has the same answer no matter which car you drive. When the temp gage is moving up and the oil pressure looks about normal, you drive a little more aggressively. Obviously, when at NOT/NOP, there are no limitations.

Exactly, whoever drives the car to its limit every single time they get into it is freaking stupid and need to walk for the rest of their lives!

Exactly. Otherwise, you're waiting too long to have fun.

Z8 BMW [and others] have a neat variable tach caution/redline based on coolant temp increments..................for those who can't count or read clock.

Why would you redline the Z right after start up?? I can't even get to 6700 rpm in 1st or 2nd gear, I can maybe redline in 3rd & 4th gears though.

I watch my water temps. once they get above 120 I pull out of the garage. Once I see water temps above 160 and I see my oil temp gauge start to go up, I get into it slightly, but don't flog the car till I see oil temps at 160
