post break-in oil change
Hey Fellas.
I finally picked up my PPW, 08 coupe, touring edition, this weekend Coming off a mazda 6, i can deffinately say, I've been missing out. I'm looking for places to go just to get a chance to drive. I love it!! Even quit smoking, or at least trying to quit smoking. (knock on wood)
Anyways, i've been reading some posts about oil changes after the 1200 mile break in period. I've owned new cars before this one and never did it. How recomended is it?

first of all use your users manual... its a good source and always right... such topic is most likely discussed and written on the opening pages of the users manual. But as of recommendation, i would say around 1.5k i would change the oil and use a good fully synthetic but still change ur oil every 3k miles... the car is fun to drive and yes quiting smoking is a MUST =D

Should have purchased a lifetime oil change option. I get a free oil/filter change every 3K miles or 90 days. Mine was $229.00 when I bought the car. At $25 or so for an oil change it should pay for itself pretty quick. Might check to see if it is still available for your car.

Going with Mobile1 0-W40.
If you hop over to the VQHR sub-forum here you can read up on some engine oil analysis and see what others are experiencing with this new engine and certain oils.
Have fun.

First congrats on the new car you will love it and welcome. I would chang my oil at 1000-1200 miles for break in but after that I still would not beat on it to much I would wait till 3k. The first oil change at 1000 and then again at 3k. I only do this on a new car .The first oil change is to if any metal shavings or metal chips from assembly removed then I drive it a little harder for the next 1500 miles change it again and then she is ready. This is just my 2 cents as I'm sure everyone does it different. But to me this is the best way..
