Your best bet is to sell your car and buy one with a 6MT.

All you need to do is add a clutch and a shifter. Its not very hard, you should be able to do it yourself. I've done it a few times, figure around 2 hours from start to finish.

Good luck!

truf.

with the amount you would spend on parts, and the time you would spend on labor, you would be upside down financially in the project. not to mention, your resale value would be shot.

It will be good experience if you want to confront the maximum in Re mods----I cant think of one that would tax you more----Maybe putting a Cummins Diesel in a Z.

Anything can be done and this is very do-able ---It's a question of putting pencil to paper and deciding on the numbers ($) you want to deal with

Where to start.....

Tranny
Ecu
engine harness or modify AT harness
Pedal assembly
Clutch slave
Master cylinder
shifter
driveshaft I believe(Ive dont it on some other cars that needed this part replaced, not sure on the Z, but my guess is you do).
starter
Might aswell upgrade the clutch and flywheel
Cluster(not really needed, but Im **** about how things look and function so I do it)
Mics bolts from the tranny housing, clucth pedal assembly and such.

This is from the top of my head, Im sure Im missing some things, but I'll let the others fill it in.

My opinion is to just NOT to do it, its not worth it on THESE cars, the value like others will be gone, the money spent is not worth it, might aswell just buy a used older Z if your on a budget and sell the one you got.

All they gave me was good looks---But this is a Forum and a question has been asked and it's moot as far as why he has an Auto---Point is OP thats quite an undertaking and I LIKE undertakings---but its just not Dollars and Cents wise

You'd easily come out on top if you traded it in for a manual. Not just in total cost, but man hours too. What ever your personal time is worth to you, plus parts = DOH! Save yourself time, money, and trade it.

My parents handed me down an '88 Plymouth Voyager...

It's a better bet to trade it in for an MT rather than spending all the money and putting in all the work to convert your AT to a MT.
