Launch Control for 5AT auto transmission?

Is there a way to get a proper launch control setup going for the Z auto tranmissions? I know Lambo's and Ferrari's have this on their paddle-shifter setup. Maybe it could be modded into the ECU?? Putting the brake on and burning rubber isn't always the best option.

Preloading wastes tires... I know it can be done, the transmission just needs to be told electronically to disengage the clutch when in 1st gear and launch control is initiated, maybe something like pushing the shifter forward would engage the clutch. Essentially doing the same thing as dumping the clutch on a manual.

Load up the torque converter with brakes on, just so the rpms stay just before the tires let loose.
This is also a good way to know where the factory stall is at (@ what rpm)
I have a 3000rpm stall converter in my 72, if anyone cares. Takes a second to 'spool' up.

Using a two step on an EMS (like the Haltech's auxiliary rev limiter) to load the drivetrain is the only thing I can think of that would work in a relatively similar fashion. Instead of clutch release, you'd have to tie the signal in to the brake release... I'd think things through though to make sure it doesn't exhibit unintended (dangerous) behavior.
Torque it to 2500RPM, and don't flog on green. You'll want to apply 3/4 throttle, and after all torque has been applied (~4500RPM) full throttle. Learning how to feather also helps tremendously. Ultimately, practice makes perfect.

What we need is a trans brake set up. I beleive on the domestics they engage 1st and reverse at the same time, gas it to launch rpm, then push a button and reverse releases. This is like dumping the clutch on a MT but the torque converter absorbs the shock which is a lot easier on the driv etrain than a normal clutch drop in a MT.

Its taken five years for us Auto guys to get any love from the Z tuner companies, hopefully one of the reflash companies or Cobb will get into the tranny control area since it is controlled by the ecu. It would be nice to adjust shift points and launch control through a program! I think its just a matter or time before someone does this as there are more and more options coming out for the auto guys: paddles, valve bodys, TQ's and so on!

You can increase stall speed by upgrading the torque converter. My stall has been increased from 2600-2900 up to around 3200. There is no transbrake enabled valve body available for this transmission to the best of my knowledge. The Haltech can hold a certain rpm with the gas full depressed (aux rev limiter), which will release once an external trigger activates (usually clutch release, but it could be manual trigger or brake release). Keep in mind that the tranny temp will skyrocket as the TC spins and you hold the car in place. You get immense torque multiplication though. Don't do it for long - it's not as safe as a 6MT 2 step, where you can sit there all day with the pedal to the floor before dumping the clutch.

Your talking burning tires still... i'm not. A 6MT can do burn tires at a standstill just like we can if they are good with heel/toe. I want a true launch control, I know its possible. Someone here has to have knowledge when it comes to reprogramming the ECU. Maybe its not something easy to do, but I would think its just a command the ECU gives the trans.
