Default 04 vs 06 6 speed trans?

I'm new here I don't own a Z, but I'm purchasing a 89 240 coupe and I'm swapping in a 04 vq35 (18k miles) and he's throwing in 2 transmissions a 04 and a 06. I may keep one as a spare or sell it I'm undecided right now. Which trans would be perferable? Both have low miles what are the differences between the two if any?

Hope this forum will be a good resource when I start to get into the wiring

Automatic or manual?

If manual, there are many different revisions, the most recent (I believe) being 009 (I believe 05+ have 009--the 04 would definietly have one of the early revisions). The diferences are in the synchros and later model manual transmissions are said to be better.

The revision number will be on a white sticker right on the bottom of the trans. Take a look at both and see what numbers they read. Go for the 009 if available.

'06 is CD009 I believe. Mine is at least. Not sure what revision the '04 is. But they are interchangeable with each other.

She's right. I went through three untill Nissan put in a 009. Have had Zero issues!! If it sounds like a jet engine when you drive, that means it's bad!! LOL

that's my goal actually, working with someone who has a 300whp+ n/a 350z. . .

I haven't got to the wiring yet. The kit for swap just came in and some other goodies but I haven't been home in almost 2 months now. . .
