Default Need some opinions...

I bought my 06 base in May of 06. At 4K miles I have issues with oil pressure not getting above 60. I took it in and the dealer service department noticed it was low on oil. So we start the oil consumption test. I take it back after 1000 miles and they say everything looks good. I drive for another 10K miles and notice the same thing. I take it in and we are on oil consumption test 2. I get the same results from the dealer. So, I drive again for another 10K and notice the same problem. This time with the test they see the issue. There was a TSB released from Nissan on the 24th of February 08 on the issue. I talked with the tech that was doing the test and he tells me the motor needs to be replaced that it failed the test. Since I started the "3rd test" before this TSB was released we have to start the test all over again. All test I have had run are not valid and cannot be used. This time they want me to bring it back in 3K miles and test again. When it fails they will replace the motor. WHAT A PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT!

So my question is. Do I wait and let them replace the motor or try and get the dealer to make me an outstanding deal on a 08 base model? Should I wait until the 3rd test results come back? I want to call Nissan and tell them this is total crap and they need to replace it now. I live in the city and drive maybe 20 miles a day now.

Has anyone had to deal with this and are they good about it? I mean it has taken me right at two years to get to the point I am at and I am very curious as to what the future holds. Any help on this would be great. BTW, I am taking this car to a very reputable dealer in Houston, Texas.

Depends who much anguish you can tolerate.

Outstanding deal on a 2008 with a broken trade-in that they know is broken? Don't think so.

Another option: check the lemon law in your state.

I was in a position to buy my car in June 06. I read about the oil consumption problems and decided to wait for 7 months until the 07's were to come out. I've seen some posts by other members before about how they lemon lawed their 06. If I were you, I'd seriously consider doing the same.

Dude the TSB was out since november of 07.
all your previous records of oil changes should work
sounds like they are trying to give you the run around

My '04 Touring Coupe's 3 defects are: 1. Driver's side power window glitch. 2. Hatch door strut(s) problem. 3. Gas latch release issue. NO FEATHER-
ING!!! Otherwise, it's a s-w-e-e-t ride; I squeeze 2 weeks from a tank-full---
beautiful, considering the powerplant!

The dealer has no incentive to cut you a deal on an 08 base. They would not be paying for the motor, Nissan is.

+1 and I have 33k on my Z. It was purchased in Nov. of 05'. I wonder why only some of the revups are affected by this?
