K i just did and oil change 80 miles ago and put it in 5quarts of M1 5w-30. I checked it today and its not at the H, how many quarts should i put in 6??
I added a hair over 5 1/2 qts with a new filter to get it up to the H mark. I measured it exactly after I read about the rev-ups OC issue, and I did my own measurements. I don't know about any other Z, but mine took 5 1/2 qts with a new oil filter. I started the engine after putting in 5, got it all circulated, shut it off, and filled it up slowly to the H mark.

That's not the best way to get a true measure of the oil level in your VQ. You should drain and refill oil/filter with five quarts. Let the Z sit overnight and measure again before you start it in the moring. The dipstick is designed to measure oil levels in the crankcase. If you measure after starting the engine and circulating it, there's always some oil still draining down to the pan, even after you shut down.
It's not a good practice to overfill your VQ with oil...

Thanks ace, you must be an expert. If it's all the same to you though, I'll stick with my way, and you can use whatever you want. I did note that just about every automotive knowledge source out there tells you to check the level after changing the oil, and bring it up to the F or H mark. The dipstick in the VQ, just like with every other engine on earth, is designed to indicate correctly when the engine has been run, and all the oil passages are filled. I suppose you drain your oil filter and passages into the crankcase whenever you check your oil? Oh yea, and I always wait at least 30 minutes after shutting the engine off before checking the oil level. Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt.
