Default Will a rebuild cure Oil-Consumption?

I know someone selling a Rev-Up for cheap with oil consumption issues. My question is, can I rebuild the engine (with FI intent) and will this solve the oil-consumption problem?

Also, will the Rev-Up install directly into my Non-Rev up 6spd car once completed?

Thanks.

I think you might have some ECU issues?

i haven't been following the oil consumption thread and i don't really want to go through 150 pages. i've seen a few theories like uneven heating, valves held open too long, etc. but has the root cause of the problem been identified?

I thought it was the second set of rings that was allowing blowby on decel?

Sometimes my oil is down a little on the dipstick, but not a drop in my catch-can. Other times I have a couple table spoons of oil in the catch-can and the level on the dipstick is fine. Weird.

But, yes, a build done right should definitely cure oil consumption.

a build should fix the problem. the second ring's profile/gap seems to be the only difference between the revup engine and the regular engine.

that being true, a .020 overbore with a new pistons and rings should eliminate the issue.

depends on how much work goes into the engine. if you do a .020 overbore you'll need to have the sleeves machined...if they do it right and keep the specs tight, and you use some good pistons then that should take care of the problem. plus you have variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust banks. should help make a little more power with some good cams.
