Either the throttle body or the electronics on the gas pedal has malfunctioned since we have electronic drive by wire it is one of those two that has malfunctioned.

If the check engine light is on, you're throwing a code. Have the code read and you will have your answer.

Chances are its a throttle body issue.

I had this happen to me on my z31. its very simple but in all honestly no one could figure it out. my firends, wife, and mechanic. I say wife because, hey atleast she tried. :P it was the floor mat that occasionally would get wrapped around the accelerator. The most unfortunate thing about this story is its how the car got totaled. since then i have never used floor mats.

Its worth checking out next time it happens. Hopefully thats all it was.

If the cause was a floormat keeping the throttle depressed, it would not trigger a CEL.

Not to mention that the Z's driver side floormat is kept in place by that rubber tab that goes thru the hole in the mat. Unless the OP has some ghetto aftermarket mats.

Probably the same thing that is keeping your caps lock key stuck is keeping your throttle stuck.
