Default Nismo cams = 15 rwhp

The guys at nissanperformancemag.com just installed a set of NISMO high performance cams in their Z. They dyno tested the car at JWT and they are good for +15 whp.

They say it took them 10 hours!! to install them, they don't say why tough.

I don't know the price of those babys but it has to be rounding the $600-700 range + installation.

Here's the link to the article: http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/july03/350cams/

Limitations of the dyno software kept us from equating a torque increase but we should have this figure in the coming months.
bwahahaha - dumbasses - it's such a simple calculations and the dyno is actually measure torque (it's impossible to measure hp). What a pos software program.

It would be nice to know what other stuff they have done. +15whp is great if it's on a stock car.

www.courtesyparts.com has them. I don't know if they're available yet, however, but there is no indication that they're not going to be available until September.

Nismo Cams are now available. We have sold quite a few and I did get to drive a customers car with a set in it. The SOTP was pretty amazing. He also had Nismo Headers and cat back so I'm not sure if the cams changed the pitch of the engine or not as far as sound goes. Also the Nissan Flat Rate manual says it takes 12 hours for the job so 10 is pretty impressive!!

Ouch,

With a shop time of 10+ hours, that would be a hella bill to pay for some cams. Over 2 grand! Looks like I beter get 20 more jobs to pay for it all LOL

Ahhhh....NO.

Tomei cams have different duration and lift(3 different types) plus they have been available for 4-5 months now

Oh and they are ~$500 cheaper

WHAT !?

10 hours to drop in some cams? I'm not machanic but doesn't that sound like a LOT of time? The VQ isn't a push rod v6 is it?

That does sound like a little too much time to me...there must be a reason though.

Chassis dyno's (most common) do not measure torque. They measure thrust force of the wheels on the rollers. From that, HP is computed first, then torque is extrapolated from the HP number.

Anyone know if the Nismo cams make a loss in power or torque anywhere in the rev range?

FWIW I had been told the Nismo cams are made by Tomei.
