MOCAL Sandwich adapter - proper fittings question

So I've read that 1/2" NPT fittings are inappropriate for the Mocal sandwich plate and Mocal in fact provides 1/2" BSP to -8AN or -10AN fittings. Great I can get those two. My cooler accepts a 3/8" hose barb.
None of the DIY guides use anything other than 5/8" hose and they use NPT fittings (where Mocal recommends against it).
So without using a lot of adapters, I am looking for a 1/2" BSP to 3/8" hose barb fitting or a -8AN female to 3/8" hose barb. I've tried Summit Racing and JEGS with no luck...
Any other good sites with fittings? If only the Mocal oil adapter took NPT fittings it would be a snap. Should I just tap the ports to 1/2" NPT?

i THINK i used the mocal adapter. But I used teh 1/2" to -10an adapters as well. I have nylon braided -10an lines running to my mazda oil cooler. With oil, you should really consider the larger -10 lines

why when the bottleneck is flow through the cooler, not the lines?
the issue with the 1/2" fitting is that the Mocal sandwich adapter has straight threads, not tapered. I am probably just going to tap it to tapered... Then I can safely use a 1/2" NPT to barb hose fitting.
