I use mobile1 synthetic oil/filter. Only oil I've ever put in my Z, I also use it on my 71 Olds 442 W-30. My father uses it on his 69 Mach1Good oil, good reputation. Same oil that comes in and recomended for Vettes and many other high performance cars. (sounds like a commercial, lol)

I've used it since I got my Z a couple of years ago, as well as my boosted Honda's in the past. Never had any sort of engine failure whatsoever (knock on wood).

Check out the VQ oil analysis sticky and make the decision for yourself. You will see that Mobil 1 (correctly spelled) doesnt have very impressive wear numbers. I used Mobil 1 synthetic for years until I ran across that sticky, very good info there. I have switched to the European formula Castrol synthetic. You will find the wear numbers on that oil are GREAT. The above poster is correct, any oil will "work", some just work better than others. Depends on how much you love your car, how much you care, how long you want it to last. So check out the sticky, and decide from there...

Mobil 1 0w-40 has shown excellent results on the UOAs.
I'm running that right now and will do my own UOA to confirm.

I just went back and looked at the UOA for that oil, not bad, but not excellent. the TBN # was good, that was the best number. Iron was high for the 32xx mile change. A little better than the other Mobil 1 though. There are DEFINATLY better oils than Mobil 1 0-40w.
