Default knock sensor issue

ok so today i recieveda " p0327" code, knock sensor. whats wierd is the Check engine light comes on maybe once or twice a month for a random misfire ( built motor TT kit) so i don't always check it cuz it goes away on its own after a day usually. but same with this code it came up, and went away right away. so i was trying to get a dyno tune today and they wanted me to fix the issue b4 tuning. so im gonna buy 2 new sensors and wanted to see if their were any instructions or help on how to install them / where to install. I heard its under the intake manifold? ( under the lower plenum i assume?)

Any help on how to replace install? or what wires/ wiring to check?

( beliefs on why it would appear and dissapear on its own?)

thanks guys

The knock sensor is in the valley between the heads, under the intake manifold. If you look thru that window in the front timing cover, you can see it sitting in there, it will be on a raised square platform. Its a small black piece about the size of a nickel, with a bolt thru it.

just found my culprit. while looking through the window, the end of the connector is still connected to the sensor but the wires have been broken off/melted/corroded. 03 touring with 32000 miles. could this have somehow happened during the tranny replacement 5k miles ago? it also appears that there are leaves and dirt in that area. how the F does that stuff get in there?

Haha, good question... When I was pulling my engine apart for my build, I found all sorts of **** in there... Leaves, dead bugs, etc.

ok so ive got the manifold collector off and am working on the actual "intake manifold." anyone know a good place to order the knock sensor harness, or a good online parts fiche resource? i pulled whats left of the harness from the back of then engine, it looks like it was being pulled tight from the knock sensor and rubbing on something, and apparently just wore right through the wire. bummer. leaning over the bumper and fenders is getting old quick. im thinking about trying to just pull the connector off the knock sensor and then plugging in the new harness whenever i get it.

The knock sensor code is set when the sensor fails the resistance and background noise test, has nothing to do with whether it senses knock or not.

^ your picture wont load cause of where its from... but,

You have to remove the upper plenum, lower plenum, and lower collector to get into the block valley and at the knock sensor.

You can't see it in that picture. The knock sensor is located under that intake piece that the fuel injectors and fuel rails are attached to.

Damn i think that's my problem right there. I got the code P0327 and my Z has been running slow/sluggish since i got it 10k miles ago. It has 75k miles right now with tranny swap couple years back. Maybe my knock sensor harness broke off/melted/corroded as well. I already ordered a knock sensor but not the wiring harness. ANyone know where i can get them for cheap?

Thanks
