ok, so i posted up a couple weeks ago about my bouncing tack. I need to ask really quick about back pressure. I took the car in today and before i say any the tach never use to bounce. well the service manager said that it is bouncing because his tech said because of the after market intake and exhaust there is less back pressure from less restriction so the flux is actually what the engine is doing. Is this at all ture or all bs?

tach bouncing up and down
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I searched and all i could find was someone who had what seemed to be tach lag. It wasnt that bad but that is not my problem. I want to know if anyone knows if it is normal to have what I would call a bouncing tach. I went out to cali speedway this last saturday and when ever I shifted and the rpm droped from switching gears, it would bounce. so if the rpm was suppose to be at 5000, when I shifted it would hit 5000 then with in 1 second go to 4,700 and up to 5300 then move back to 5000 and continue to rise like normal. Is this normal. I can try to to make a video if no one understands what I'm saying.
Thanks

complete BS. the only thing your tach knows is the engine RPM and unless lower backpressure from the parts is making the engine rpms actually bounce, the tach wont bounce. its more likely that your tach is failing, or you have a slipping clutch

tach is sh1tting itself, IMO. either that or your ecu is sending a retarded tach signal which would certainly mean bigger and not so better things than "less backpressure". maybe a dirty CPS (thats where the tach signal is more or less translated from, right?)

When the tach is bouncing, does the bouncing actually seem to correspond to the engine revs? It's one thing if the tach is showing what the engine is doing, the other if the tach is just wacky and does not show correct RPM.
The explanation from the dealership is sad. This is why people don't trust dealerships. They can explain why your window motor failed due to your aftermarket intake. Right.
If the engine does what the tach is saying, your clutch is probably slipping, especially since it happens during shifts. If the tach does it's bouncing routine while the engine isn't actually doing the rev bouncing with it, your tach is broken or the sensor that sends the signal. Good luck.

unless you glazed the sh*t out of your clutch, i would blame the tach as the culprit. you dont seem to shift like a tard but that is something completely subjective. i mean, the engine does sound like it is bouncing a bit as well but not within 1k back and forth. how many miles on your clutch?

probably like 20000. Its taken care of though. When he told me that i said thats bs cause i have had the parts on this entire time (2) years. He then said his tech was on lunch and would further talk to him when he gets back. Got a call 6pm later in the day and the service manager told me he spoke to the head tech and instructed his tech to get a digital rpm gauge hooked up. So yea, the digital was saying the engine was fine but mine was bouncing all over again. In the end, i have to leave the car there till sat so they can pull my old tach out and replace it under warrenty. If any one needs dealership work corona nissan does a decent job. talk with todd, he is the service manager. as long as you can identify what is wrong your self mainly with the help of this site, just tell him and he usually can get your problem fixed, everyone else just gives you bull s&*t.
