Default Does anyone make a high stall for the A5?

I always see automatic guys going to a shorter final drive and ask myself why? Doesn't anyone make any stall's for the automatic's?

GTM, ProTorque, EdgeRacing have done a lot of work for our 5AT. I think GTM uses EdgeRacing for the TC. High stall, quick off the line, but too much heat for sure! Actually have a 2nd one, slightly lower stall, more efficient (also from Edge) waiting for install. My current stall at roughly 450 wtq is over 4000 rpms. High stall will drop your ET for sure with a great launch for drag racing. But it's no good for road racing. I had a tough time at ZdayZ keeping temps under control just regular driving in the mountains.

What do you classify as 'regular driving' in the mountains as opposed to in the city?

A hot sweaty tranny is never a good thing.

I have the high stall (4000) ProTorque, but I'm probably going to go with a lower stall. At 650 ft-lbs, I'm stalling well over 5000RPM which doesn't give me enough room to make power.

Just maintaining a constant speed - lol.

I like your install back there coachk. You're running a SGP TC - Protorque?

I also run a tranny cooler but up front, in front of radiator, no fan for it but the fan from the radiator sucks air through it as well.

Temps in the mountains in any gear but 4th would crest 250 degF in under 1 minute of "regular driving"! 4th would keep it in the 220 as long as I didn't boost.

My understanding is that 175 degF is considered the optimal operating temp and anything over 200 results in degradation of the ATF. Sam at GTM recommends a drain and fill every 6k miles with the GTM-5AT, and I can understand the need for this.

Those pics were awhile back when I had the Injen exhaust. Had to move the cooler a little to the left to accomodate the Greddy evott. I'm running the EdgeRacing TC and for the most part it has been spot on when launching my car.Andre @ Edge is a great guy to deal with so if anyone needs a TC give him a call.

Why would you run the tranny cooler next to a hot exhaust?

The heat from the exhaust at best would have a minimal effect on the cooler. There's alot more air flow going to the cooler where I have it opposed to it being tucked away behind the front bumper... Plus I like to be different and try new things....
