5th and 6th gear trouble, HELP!
I just recently installed a ACT clutch and light-flywheel. After the install I test drove it and it is hard to get into 5th and 6th gear. When pushed into 5th I would slightly push up and it would stop me and I would have to slightly move diagonally to the left and with the 6th gear it would sometimes grind. I can't take it anymore.
Check your shifter plate... I'm not sure what its called but purpose of the plate is to stop you from going to reverse unless you hold the shifter down. Its the broze color which you could get to it by taking off your shifter boot, i mean all 3 of them from inside the car. The plate is triangular shape and its holding by 3 screws. Loosen up the screw, push it toward right and tight it back up. I know it sounds kinda too easy but i'm sure thats it.
^^ Good post with good information/specific instructions.
I agree with you, and thinking it's the guidance/alignment plate that is off. I hope he tries your suggestion and posts the results on this thread. That would be helpful to know since it seems so many people have complaints with shifter alignment after doing transmission or clutch replacement.
